Fear

27 Dec

Sometimes I’m afraid.

Of not being good enough.
Of  losing my friends.
Of not being a good daughter.
Of not finding my way in life.
Of not smiling enough.
Of never finding love.
Of being afraid.
Of being to hard on myself.

And that fear holds me back. It shouldn’t.
So goal from now on: trying to see when I’m afraid of something, ignoring the feeling and never letting it hold me back again.

One Response to “Fear”

That’s a great goal! I believe it was President Roosevelt who said: ‘The only thing we have to fear is fear Itself’. Whenever I’m afraid of something, that quotes comes to mind and it helps me. Most people have similar fears like you, including me. They can control your life if you let them. It’s great that you decided to fight them 🙂

Then there’s also fear about doing stuff, like asking a girl/boy on a date or giving a speech for a room full of people or..
In the past, I would’ve turned back and give in to my fear but not anymore! 😀 Now I adhere by the motto: ‘If you’re afraid to do it, then do it!’. That’s easier said then done off course. In the beginning it’s a constant struggle between fear and you. You win some, you lose some. But the more battles you win, the easier it becomes. Like all things in live, practice is key. For example, I used to be very nervous of calling people I didn’t know or answering my phone when it was an unknown number. So then I just took a job in a call center!(not for long though, awful job :p)
And although it’s much easier now for me to do ‘fearful’ things, my heart still races from time to time. I must say, not being held back by fear anymore, has truly enriched my life 🙂
    It’s truly liberating!

    Take care 🙂
